These are likely 3uaudio, (similar construction, telltale red tape on the capsule boxes) though I once contacted the owner and he denied any connection. They are not at all true CK12 capsules. They are k67s with alternate hole patterns to the end of mimicking the original AKG response. Dachman's advertising is dreadfully misleading; this is a "replica" of the AKG capsule in the same sense a coca cola ad is a "replica" of the bottled drink, in that the former merely evokes the image of the latter and is substantively different. As to the sound of the capsule, it's probably pretty good. But the differentiating characteristics of the original CK12 are not merely frequency response, rather they also include its proximity effect and polar response. I have bought the capsule because I know what it really is and think 150 is a fair price for a close substitute, especially since Guosheng, the 3u big dog, upped his prices to more or less match Dachman (which is another reason these are probably his capsules). I have yet to test it out because I am waiting on the mic I bought it for and don't want to desolder and resolder capsules in my other ones.

This capsule looks exactly the same as the ones I bought years ago for $28...
(By the way: Most so called 'CK12' capsules are anything but a 'real' CK12 capsule. Most of the time they are edge terminated K67 capsules.)

I just bought 2 ak12 capsules from Advance Audio. They look the same as these but with 2 red wires on the diaphragm ring and 2 blue wires on the back plates the blue part. $99 each

Dave himself told me that his 47 capsule was a 3u but that his ak12 is not. Said something about peluso and this ex Neumann guy helped design the capsule.

well Josh at Dachmanaudio has been in contact and i did mention to him about they are not true CK12 capsules, he apologied about if he had mislead.
i then received a pair of DA-CK12 rather than the RK-12 which i had ordered.
They should have had isolated backplates, ive tested them both and they do not have isolated backplates!!
Josh assured me that they have, but they dont!!!
Will send them back and get a full refund as on each capsule the front to rear capsules are not even close with what they measure, front is 97pf and rear is 47pf on one and the other is just as bad!!!
something i have noticed on most of my other mics is when i goto fig8 the rear capsule has less treble than the front. is this something anyone else finds with other mics, as in, is this a common thing? or should each capsule when in fig 8 sound as clear as each other?

If you are listening on headphones what you are hearing is the phase reversal of the rear signal. Try recording them both and playing them back I am almost positive you won't hear the difference. If there is a difference it is more likely a difference in output

Well I'm scratching my head here, all mics that I seem to test on fig 8 seem to have the rear capsule sounding darker than the front?
I'm gonna take one apart and check the voltages, if only one was like this it would be fine but I've tested about 4 now, Elam 251, m49, c12 and c12A all seem to do it?

This has been answered twice now, directly above this comment.

Well I think my m49s were only wired for cardioid only mode and missing the S2 link!!
Will check this and correct.
The c12a's did work but I changed the capsules and now only cardioid so must be a wiring error.
Will check the Elam and c12 as well!!!
U67 seems to be fine on all patterns, 1 out of 5!!

must of been having a bad ear day!!!, as have put new edge terminated cap and resoldered my M49s and they sound great now, recorded a bit on each pattern and sounds fine. still fig 8 sounds different in the room door way but maybe its a dead spot or something between my two rooms?
quite surprised on how good the M49 sounds with an edge terminated capsule.

Edge terminated capsules are a bit more linear and less midrange focused so that's understandable. An engineer here at Danmarksradio used to change capsules in M49's and U47's with CK12's. I still run into them every once in a while.
