So, I was just given a large box of random DIY type parts and projects.  I am now trying to assess what I have and what its gonna take to get some of it going.  One of the them most interesting things maybe a pair of Altec 12912 eq modules.  I'm wondering if anyone has a schematic and if anyone know anything about them.  I took one apart and I think I see an inductor but other then that I have no idea what these do.

I've also got a 481A amplifier module and a 470A amplifier.  No power supply for any of it.

Thanks

Google friend. "Altec 12912" finds it fast.

This is for flattening the top-loss of 50 miles of line. If your lines are generally shorter, I'm not even sure how you would use it.

That page also has a manual with several 4xx series amplifiers. They are all the same except frills.

so basically useless unless I have a really big studio.

maybe some of the peerless transformers and other transformers will be of use?

I also have an an altec 468A Amplifier which has a peerless 15036 transformer and a few other from the looks of it.  Any Idea what can be done with the Peerless?

Info for it can be found on the same link.

Says its a repeating coil transformer that is high quality?  Could it be used some how even for just wiring up on the patchbay and running audio through it?

Thanks for any help.

The rated impedance map is missing (fig 10).  I'm guessing they are low - 150-600 like the others.

Try it as 1:1.  Could possibly mix 2 into 1 with the center tapped winding.  +23dbm max - should take a lot of signal.

DCR will tell you if all windings have equal symmetry. If so, then 1:2 or 2:1 may be possible.

Mic/line splitting may be a good possibility here to. Grab some alligator clips and give us a breakdown.

Well a snappy three year late answer.

I have a couple of the Peerless 15189, and 15192 transformers, and have just been doing some freq response tests on them.  They handle very high levels and are better than my test equipment from 20-20k  And they they are spec'd at 200-6K and 100-10k respectively.  The 15036 you mention is spec'd at 20-20K, so i imagine it would do fine or better.

They can be configured in various ways, I don;t know if the DCR is too low but driven from a discrete op-amp they do just fine and I was going to try them for audio.

Specs on yours are at:http://www.telephonecollectors.info/index.php/document-repository/doc_view/427-altec-xformers
