I have an Amek G2520 desk, and one thing I know is that the BCII shares the the JP307 preamp card, which is based on the ssm2015 ic (obsolete and hard to find). I'm sure there are differences in the BCII and G2520 beyond the mic pre, but my stock channels are very clean, clear and quiet, and have a "sweet" sound to them.

On top of that, you can get very affordable preamp cards to replace the JP307 from audiomaintenance.com ("Slenderchap" on this forum). These things really sound great to me. They are similar to the Amek 2500 (M2500?) and "Angela" consoles. For me, the stock pres are mostly "accurate"and the upgrades have some "color". I really have a great time around here mixing up the two.

Here's the preamp upgrade:

EDIT: maybe "color" is not what I should've said. Don't go expecting Neve transformers. But "richer" is more like it.
