I need to use one more effect (reverb) than I have effect sends on my board. So I was wondering if I just split, say the snare signal take one to an input dry and one through the reverb unit (I would only use the reverb unit for this one task) and into another channel, use the input and output on the effects unit to match levels. Then I could just blend each channel together. Would this work? Or is there a way to make an external aux send say on the insert on the channel strip that the snare is going to?

Im not sure what methods you are using, but would is be possible to just duplicate the snare on your recording medium, then send one into the console dry and send the other through the reverb unit to a seperate channel to use as the wet signal?

if you have fader grouping/linking capability...

take the insert send from your primary I/O that you want to affect.. patch the insert send into the next channel strip... rout that strip to the routing matrix and patch your group out into the effect processor..

link that fader to your primary fader and set your raitio of wet to dry... now the second fader will simply follow the primary and maintain your wet/dry ratio at all times.

Or if you don't have link/grouping set the wet dry ratio with the console gain trims and the faders both at unity. Break a pencil, and tape it to the pair of faders, and now you have Caveman style fader grouping.

You want a crossfader, unscrew that slide pot from the channel strip and flip it around, repeat the above procedure.

Never fails to impress clients!

Cheers,
