Hi all!

I do all my mixes inside my computer and I'm very interested in combining this with some kind of analog summing device.

My "audio-pusher" showed me a machine the other day called "Dangerous 2-bus LT" and I heard a mix done through it and the same mix through the computer.....the Dangerous was better. Does anyone know this machine?
Dangerous Music

I'm currently working on a bunch of Telefunken V672 preamps and saw that there is also Telefunken summing modules. Can these be used for making an analog summing device like the Dangerous?...has anyone done projects like this?

The .:Meta-Meta:.

Its below the search function and covers a lot of ground.

The Mixer meta is a nice place to start

Yea,

I think I'm gonna do one.
I want to do a summer with adat optical inputs (from my sound cards)
4 of them for 32 channels and spdif stereo out to return the buss back
to the daw for export to .wav.

Also I would put a channel break in into the stereo analog section
for a GSSL

Bitman,
this implies a complete 32ch DA and 2ch AD!
(and they should be of good quality too)
The summing seems to be the less problematic part.
I'm VERY interested in your design...
don't forget to post your forthcomings with that, it's a very cool design idea...and could maybe easily expanded to a diy modern mastering desk  !

kind regards

Martin

Well right now it's not on paper, but much of it is already elsewhere.
MCS has some lightpipe reciever boards, and I think crystal semi
makes a 4 channel DAC, maybe there is an 8 channel ones out there,
I have'nt looked into that yet. some 1% 5k resistors and I'll be
summing 4 groups of 8 then summing those 4 into 2. A crystal 24/96
adc to spdif looks everyday now.

I've discovered today however that I'd better do the panning in the daw
for mix repeatability. This is going to mean two optical channels per daw
track. (sux).

I don't think I'm gonna be doing 32x2 now. 'Prolly 16x2.

Depends on how many cheap Frontier cards I can score on evilbay, and
how many PCI interupts and slots I have to give.

Always somthin....
