I recently acquired a Future Electronics FTC-401 transistor checker.
It was made in Japan.
i cant find a manual for it anywhere. There is a new company listed with the name “future Electronics “ but they know nothing of it.
I have attached a photo. Anyone know anything about these units or perhaps have a manual?
thank you.

Never seen one like that but I will speculate that the Beta setting is for measuring hfe (current gain of bipolar transistors). In Beta mode it likely puts a constant current into the base-emitter junction and measures the current flowing from collector to base.

Other positions can probably measure device junction voltage drops (typically 1/2 volt).
