I'm looking for a threaded cylinder like in the picture. many different sizes would work, but something around 1/2 inch in diameter and height.threaded_deal.jpg

Yes, I have some of those that I brought from Ikea for free.
They have near the Help Desk a place with different hardware parts that you can take as spares.
I actually took some random parts I might need and took some of those

I've been looking for something similar. A hex standoff 3/8" long, female threaded 6-32 both ends and threaded in the side (M2.5-0.45). Any ideas where someone could get these?

mcmaster carrv has a pretty exhaustive inventory of all things machined. i didn't see those in a cursory look - their catalog system is a labrinth on phone - but their resource desk is helpful and would know right away. www.mcmaster.com

Hex standoffs work nicely under low tension.
Below pict are M3's tapped 4-40.
