looking to see if anyone recognize this
Alps pot before.
Markings on it are made in u.s.a.

It’s detented with some 30 positions/detents.
Looking for a replacement as the pit cuts out and you have to pull on the shaft to get it to come good, plus it also has some dead spots.

Black Beauty pots haven't been made in years and whatever is still available commands a HIGH price. If you can live without the detents, the newer Blue Velvet pots are quite decent. Example:

I have blue velvet pots in the right value so can replace it. the black ones can be opened and cleaned but I suspect that’s past that point as it is quite old, especially when I have to pull the shaft to get it to have one side come good.
I replaced it with the blue alps pot that I had in the shop. I have a second one somewhere but any issues I had previously went away when the pot was replaced. So we good.

It's the ALPS RK271 series. This is the design sheet. IF you do a search for "RK271" you will find a lot of sources, round and D shaft.

tanks for that. But already replaced it with an rk27, the blue. It fit better as it was smaller. It also didn’t have the detents which was no big deal in this application. But will keep a look out for the rk271 in that value for justin case.

I've had great success with the blue Alps pots when I needed to replace an aged control room level pot in several different desks. The tracking between channels was excellent, and the "feel" of the pot when adjusted was also primo. The price isn't bad, either.
