hi everyone.
i'm glad i found you guys again after the death of techtalk. [what happened anyway?]
so here's a question. we have an API 2061 console at the studio i call home. it's got 24 channels, 8 buses, and a 16 channel monitor section. what we wanted to do was to wire up a master stereo fader that the 8 buses sum into. i've got the fader, i'm pretty sure i've got a couple 325 cards, and i've got the time.
i've been looking at mixer/summing schematics, and i am starting to think that this is not as complicated as i first thought.
basically i would add a L and R assign to master switch taking it's feed from each bus' post fader output, and go into the summing network L and R respectivly, and then into the L and R 325 line amp, and that would be my master output.
am i on the right track? i have no idea what values to use for the summing network. currently, the buses output into the corresponding monitor section channel in mix mode, so would i have to use a 'selector switch' that sends the bus output to the master output OR the monitor section, but not both at the same time?
i'm pretty sure the monitor section is all passive so i'm not sure how that would affect the bus outputs in terms of loading.
just some very preliminary thoughts. any suggestions?
glad there's still a place like this.
