NOOOooooooooooooooo . . . . . . . !!!!

Yes, and here we go! 🥳

So, the strange looking body will be a tube mic, I call it Bopper T12 because it kind of looks like the 50ies and is based on the Sela T12 circuit. For reasons of compactness and sound, this is exactly the right circuit. The 5654 was replaced by its little sister 5840w, which also saves some space.

The capsule is a KK12, which needs no external voltage and sounds convincing with this oldschool circuit! I've already built a few mics with this combination. B+ is variable over a wide range to influence the available headroom and therefore the sound. Since no polarization voltage is obtained from B+, this is not a problem and you really have a large usable range.

Hey Rock, thanks for the photo tour of the mic.

I swore I'd never buy a USB mic, but like you, I'm attracted to quirky looking mics so when I saw one in the flesh, I couldn't resist it. I've had it for a couple of years now and it has just been sitting on the bookshelf.

I'm really surprised it's got an LDC in it, I would've put money on it having a TSB-165 or a similar electret. I think I might have to take a look inside to see if mine has an LDC. There's a lot happening in there circuit wise. Are you going to try it to see what it sounds like before gutting it?

Anyhow I'm looking forward to your valve mod, take lots of pics!
