I just had a look and still can't stop laughing. They give 'em all the finger, you have to appreciate their guts.

But serious, this is SO LAME - haven't they learned from the Mackie/Beh.-comments ? I still don't get it, why don't they think of a look of their own ?! It'd give more appreciation of the actual circuit (which is probably fine for that price) too...

BTW, anyone remembers the 'PSK'-pedals ? Had a similar look as Boss.

i'm just looking at the v-tone bass bdi12.... at least they are telling the truth when they say:

So much more than a mere DI box, the BDI21 is also an analog modeling bass preamp/stompbox with sound modeled after Tech21® Sansamp Bass Driver DI*.

heheheh - i wonder if the pcb is identical :D

Copying electronics is nothing new in the world of stomp boxes, the design issue is. They actually mention the originals in the broshure. Now that's interesting.

The boxes themselves are dirt cheap. One of the overdrives I looked up was 22 Euro. That gives you plenty of room for experimentation, modification or throwing away the insides to build your own.

Now your talking!

I don't see anything wrong with them making effect pedals. Why the **** are Boss pedals so expensive anyway? Maxon makes their pedals look just like Ibanez pedals and charge twice as much. So what's wrong with these guys making something and charging what it's actually worth. How do you beat a chromatic pedal tuner for $25 list?

I don't use pedals much myself. I have a TS9 and a DS10. But at these prices they're worth buying for your studio. Why? A variety of effects for a guitarist to go through takes time. Time can make you money sometimes. Even if it is annoying.

How many existing pedals are clones or near copies of other pedal designs... plenty! Also, most of the small boutique builders are cloning some of the same pedals as Behringer; they just don't have the boxes and graphics to imitate the originals - not that they would want to do so anyway. I'm sure Behringer's lawyers have been all over this and believe they are on safe ground.

Look at the Line 6 Filter Mod manual and all of the vintage pedals they picture and claim to emulate....

An original look would have been less controversial but who knows how they decided to go this route? Besides, they haven't hit the street yet... it looks like a bunch of computer renderings so far. Are any of them actually being shown at Namm?

regards, Jack

Whoever the manufacturer is that makes those Boss pedal cases must be rich, there are millions of them out there. If Deadringer makes copies, perhaps Roland might reduce the REDICULOUS price of their pedals.
