Am aware of some of the elma switches but I can seem to find the 24 pole cat. Number can someone point me in the right direction or a cheaper equivalent.
They are cheap, but I have had a lot of problems with them!
One of the problems was that both sections were not switching at the same time.
(That is: one section had switched to the next position, but the other section was still in the 'previous' position'.)
The only remedy seemed to be to glue the rotor to the shaft. There is some backlash between the rotor and the shaft.
That was indeed the main problem. I have used a 2 component glue to secure the rotor to the shaft.
By the way: they are very easy to take apart and it is simple to reduce the number of steps.
Just drill a small hole in the white plastic and insert a stiff piece of metal.
I used a bit of a paperclip!
Cool Thanks again ruud. Seen jeffs post from his build for the shelves. I have everything apart from the PCB for the PSU.Just have to get that together. Thanks again for the heads up on the switches. That would have driven me around the bend.
A fellow Irishman here although now living in L.A. I think if you're going to the effort to build the Porter I'd save up for the Elma, cheap rotary switches cause a lot of problems in my experience. Your signal is directly effected in this case.
Got the Elma switches in the end was forgetting I could put them under studio purchase : Everything is ordered and in the post now. Should be fun getting it operational.
