In case anyone finds this helpful... I found that a 1/8" bead of butyl rubber will completely deaden a ringy headbasket, for example an Oktava MK-319. Butyl rubber is the black goop that holds metal grills on speakers, windows in cars etc... It's insanely sticky and stays put, even at high temperatures. It has no bounce or spring to it at all - very dead - compared to silicone glue which is very springy. An example is 3M 5354 tape, 1/8" thick, various widths, but you only need 1/8x1/8". Might be able to score small pieces from a glass shop.

Press it into the bottom edge of the headbasket where the metal screen tucks into the bottom collar of the headbasket. Done.

Also deadens ringy metal body tubes - just a single narrow strip.

Yes, butyl works really great, i used it also on headphones shells.
For microphone dampers laso good is silicone and technical foam.
