Since I'm building a bunch of cables again.  I thought I should share the cable I have been using for the past 20 or so years. Coupled with Neutrik connectors and you can forego the hyped up stuff.

yup. That's what we use at our place.. neutrik and canare.
We added flexo sleve to the mix in various colors to denote length. All green cables are 11'. the extra foot keeps people from taking them, they stole all the 10' ones.  the orange are 16' and black  flexo is 26'.  it makes it easy

It's good rugged cable at a good price, but a pita to solder compared to 2 conductor with a spiral shield. The star quad also rolls off high end.

Yeah, I love the Canare stuff too. I use GS6 for guitar cables, but like someone said, the extra work you have to do combining the conductors with star quad is beyond my lazy factor right now.

I love Markertek. They're right up the road from me. I can still buy Neutrik and wire wholesale from a former company I used to work at, but Markertek buys in such larger quantities their prices are nearly as low, and it gets delivered right to my door.

I love Belden cable, its the kind of cable that when you hold it in your hands you can tell it is sturdy as fuck!

Superior noise immunity is another plus of quad.  I use a mix of both.

It's a rabbit hole,  but you should compare the quad to some low capacitance cable like da206. Quite a contrast in sound.

Yes, that's good cable. 

I never liked the idea of using the quad stuff due to the parallel capacitance of 2 conductors per.  OK for carrying the high voltage plus signal on 120V B&K/DPA mics though.

I think Gotham has the best noise immunity of all available cables. For cheap with good quality and feel I usually go with Gepco. Van Damme and Klotz aren't commonly available here.

I use Gotham cable  for PSU to tube mic, so 7 pin setup. Canare sounds fine to me and I don't think I can hear out to 20khz anymore. Noise is what I am particularly sensitive to. It's nice to know the cable is warming up the signal, don't we buy plugins to do just that?

For permanent install I like Belden 1800B. It’s AES cable so it’s good for everything and it’s not expensive.

I've always ben a fan of Gotham cable. The shields are so much easier to work with than braided shield, they seem to coil better, and they have very low handling noise. The GAC-2 is pretty cheap (https://www.redco.com/Gotham-GAC-2.html), and the quad GAC-4 is beefy as heck.

I have some Gotham quad snake that I picked up  to wire the daw with. PIA to get it all in there with the dsubs and dsub hoods.  but boy does it sound like a million dollars.
