Hello all,

After finishing filling my 51X rack with CAPI pres (2 X VP25, 5 X VP26, 4 X VP28), it was time to test how they sound with a drum kit...

So here are a few pics of last week session with the Scottish rock band : Hey Ennemy.

The soundfile is 24bits/96KHz. It's just a drum test, rough mix, no proccessing :

Kick in : Shure SM98 / VP26
Kick out : Neumann U47fet / VP25
Snare top : Sony C37p / VP26
Snare bottom : Neumann KM84 / VP26
Lo-tom top & bottom : Josephson e22s / VP26 & VP25
HH : Sony C36p / VP26
FOK : Royer SF12 / VP28

OH's : Neumann KM56 / Gordon M5
Room : Crown SASS-P MkII / French 50's Alcatel tube preamp

Now that's a nice room to look at!

The SASS-P jumped out on the list, not many of us use that one.

Checking the samples a bit later.....

very usable sounds comin' from those mics and preamps.  kick seems like it's missing the sub80 freqs tho.    it actually sounds super clean, almost like a sample library.

Holy ****! look at that incredible room!
Sounds killer also. I bet some processing will bring out some sweetness as well.
Thanks for sharing.

hey imrc,

fantastic pictures and fantastic location. looks like a great session.

now the question: from previous recording experiences, i've always dreaded rounded/arched ceilings, as they reflect and focus the sound in unpredictable ways.

how was recording in that room? did you have any problems?

Wow, that's an incredible room - and great pictures! Love the mic list! :)
Interested to listen when I can, had some VP28s and loved them.
