Hello,
Does anyone have a source for capsule mounts that will fit CK12 spaced capsules?
Thanks!

only mass produced k67s have narrow 60 degree mounts (called "797 mounting") i'm pretty sure all german capsules have 90 degree mounts. i have saddles here with 90 degree holes, pm me your address and i'll ship you some for free. i'm making a few assumptions about what capsule you're talking about though, can i have some pics? here are the wide saddles i have:

hard to see from the picture, but it's wide enough that the two holes are perpendicular

That's exceedingly generous of you. I'll gladly pay for them. I have a few mounts from you that I got with the flat k47s, which are great, by the way. These are drilled for a single set of mounting screws per the k47. Do you have ones that are drilled with two holes? I assume because of the upcoming k67 release you do.

i have some arriving soon, but they are spaced to the gap in holes between the backplates on that specific capsule. a ck12 would still be slightly offcenter front to back, though not as much so as with a k47 mount obviously. only 2 screws are used to mount either way, there's no risk with using a k47 mount, it will just look weird.

Annoying thing I just realized is that the CK12 original style has those obnoxiously tiny M1 mounting screws. I can only find ones with correspondingly tiny heads that sink right through most k67 type mounts. Thanks anyway. I'm really not trying to be picky; it's just that the capsule is different enough from the common types to be a nuisance.

maybe you could find a washer that'd fit online

I sell this mount that fits vintage CK12's and mine to mount in chinese mics for example. Andriejus Aputis used to sell them here. He manufactures mine and for others. Upton, Telefunken, Beezneez, OPR and Flea also make these mounts. AKG's hole spacing is 120 degrees.

I am learning as I follow the discussion on proper capsule mounts. In contrast, I often make my own mounts from PVC plumbing bits for less than $1 at the hardware store. After trimming and shaping them, I attach them to the internal frame with various home-brew schemes, sometimes cutting and shaping metal screws, bolts, and other bits of metal scrap.
Dear Sililoqueen would just die if she saw some of my creations as I am confident they are acoustically contraindicated for serious, professional use. (Ham operators are notoriously cheap and "self-sufficient"- which is just another way of being cheap - so I work hard to maintain the tradition.) :)

Seriously, however, a friend makes plastic mounts on a 3D printer from plans found on the Internet, and I am amazed how easy and convenient it is to make them and even modify the original drawings, to produce specialized one-off versions for a very low cost. It is an amazing technology and real boon for DIY projects when one cannot find authentic original parts.

OK ... I now return you to the regularly scheduled program. :)

Happy days, James -K8JHR

The problem with plastic mounts for this type capsule is that we use M1 screws to mount the capsule. With thin metal holders that screw is only 3mm long. With a thicker mount you need a much longer screw. If those screws are brass they shear more easily so you would need to use stainless steel 1mm x 8-12mm. M1 thread in acrylic tears out very easily.

Thanks for the correction Tim!

Right! and I appreciate the further gloss, although you were quite clear about that in your previous post. Those are really tiny screws! I was merely hoping I could quickly jump in and right back out, to mention the amazing state of the technology, and I apologize for interrupting the natural flow of the thread. James
