check if xformer is gapped or not?

hey,
i hope this question isnt too stupid. but if i have an unidentified transformer - can i somehow tell from the construction if it is gapped or not? i cant really find an answer on the net. i attached two pics.

Looking at the schematic there should be no dc at the output driving the transformer so it should not need to be gapped.

might need to take it apart, are you in the US?  ;D

just scrape off a bit of varnish  near the top and see if you see a line, or an up and down pattern,
