Hello,
is there somewhere a good circuit for an active level Fader? I am searching but found only passive ones...

Lesli

Please excuse my ignorance but ...

What is an active fader? Are you looking for a circuit where you set a maximum threshold that the level never exceeds or perhaps a 'fader circuit' that can be controlled remotely?

Seems like a sledgehammer to crack a nut to me.
Sure, fully agreed.
Just suggesting it in case you have that beast already and it happens to be idling in your rack when you need to xfade.

But hey, but we're about overengineering here, right ? :thumb:

But Lesli,

What do you need it for?

Hi Jakob,
i have seen this circuit. I Like the neumann stuff (have a few V476b/U473/W495)

It is a cool circuit but i cant "read" this "SAS 251". Do you know what it is?

I want to build a 24 channel Fader box for my studio. I want to patch the channels individual where ever I need them and so I build it active.
"SAS 251" is a hall-effect ic switch for fader end switching. You'd probably not want this..
Oh no, I don´t need this. So I can leave it out. Thanks Jakob...

Thanks Tekay, but i don´t want it VCA based....

Leslie,

The Neumann circuit may be overkill for you.

Do you really need transformerbalanced inputs?
Do you really need transformerbalanced outputs?
Do you really need balanced at all?

The simple solution would be passive faders coupled directly to the inputs, and feeding simple output buffers.

An electronically balanced version could be made simply with in/out circuits like those in the SSL-clone - just add a potentiometer in stead of the VCA's

yep
I have had that project in reserve for the DIY Factory for some time.
if people are interested I can bring that forward.

The PCB has been used at my work for many years
and with Dim Cut Mono.
Usually is it accompanied with a 16 x 1 switcher but I'll leave that bit out.

Yes. Perhaps you´re right

1. Yes. I need it, because i don´t know what comes in and so i feel better with a transformer based input.
2. No, not at all....
3. Yes!!!

Yes, but i want it balanced and active....

Thats a cool Idea. What do you recomend for a Fader Value?

Oh I am very interested. Bring it up please and don´t leave the 16 x 1 switch out!!!

Thanks all for your help....
I'll look into it
but you don't want the 16 x 1 , as it is a huge project.
Ok. It´s your choice, but keep in mind, that i am planing a 24 active Fader box transformer balanced. So what is a huge project?....

Thanks Kev.

A DIY PCB that is BIG ... and I'm not making one for you ... :green:

but just to tease I'll show the front panels and the control box

Why not? I could send you a few Flowers via Fedex as a "Thank you"..... :green:

Are these switches Input selectors? I can´t imagine what that box is....

no
:green:
you get that

I make a very diverse range of gear at work

as the name suggests ... it is a
16 x 1 stereo
and
32 x 1 mono
monitoring switcher

it lets you monitor 16 stereo and 32 mono inputs
with dim cut and mono for the stereo bit
