Me too. I need two more of the old knobs to finish a project.

I must say though, the new knobs look really good. I'd take them over the API knobs any day, but you are only going to be able to get them with a kit.

Someone will have to start up a new knob dealership for Vemaline.  'Tis who makes them:

Possible to order directly here?

classic API never had API knobs.  Classic API had Vemaline knobs. API has a slightly different knob that is trademark, patent whatever you can do to a knob, they have it.  There is reason classic API has a new knob and not Vemaline knobs.  There is  reason it's no longer classic api or any derivative there of. Personally I like their new knobs  and logo better.

all of his old products say "Classic Audio Products of Illinois" on the faceplate.  Only his website url used "ClassicAPI".  Also of note, Vemaline is making the new knobs for him.

"Exclusive and only sold with a complete CAPI module kit"

All true but there is a reason for the logo change and it was not because it was decided one day to be different.

yes, most of us familiar with his stuff know about his lawsuit with API, especially if you frequent realgearonline's forums

maybe, maybe not but nothing that i would not want to openly discuss. so best to leave it as the afore mentioned.

...and now API leans on me via PM for mentioning it:

Someone here pointed to this Asian knockoff of one type 'similar to both Vemaline and API' once not long ago.

The new CAPI knobs are horrible.
Gee wiz, thanks for the compliment LOL  :D

If you dont have people saying your design/idea/whatever your output is is both horrible and great, it usually just means its too bland and middle of the road to provoke any emotion.  :D

Personally, I think the new knobs look awesome!

Many thanks Gustav ;)  I know not everyone will love them but hey thats OK. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am personally very happy with the way they turned out. Trying to create something new and unique after so many decades of control knobs being around was a bit of a challenge, to say the least.

If folks don't know where I am at with these, I got the initial push thru the extrusion dies a few days ago. I had to approve them before going to production. Getting close now!

IMO, they're some of the best looking knobs out there. If they're going to be exclusive, maybe we'll have to find a way to DIY them  ;)
Thanks! My plan right now is to keep them exclusive to full kits only. As much as anything, I want the knobs to say "this is a CAPI product".

As far as DIY'ing them, please don't. That will not be a fun time for me or whomever does that. I have learned a thing or 2 about protecting myself over the last 7 months..... ??? I will go to the ends of the earth to protect my hard work.  :)

Sorry if I hit a nerve with that. I should have kept in mind that your big move was probably motivated by something unpleasant. It was a joke since we're on a DIY forum  :D I don't think there's a chance in hell that anybody would ever DIY your knobs.

for the interested I have a box full of old api knobs... Various sizes  of both concentric and non concentric...    If anyone is interested can drop me a PM and we can discuss

No these are legit API, whatever that means. They are from the 80's, not that makes a difference but, it was a  much different climate back then when they were acquired.Eeventually they were put in my hands.  ;)
