Here's the inside of a Collins 409T-1 PSU, made back in the late 1940's when women new how to do proper wiring.
Almost all the wire points are spade connectors on screw lugs for fast service changes. Power transformer has 5VAC steps from 105-125. Parallel 6X5's are a bit of stiffness overkill that also allow you to pull one when you need a bit less output. Rated for 250VDC/100mA and 6.3VAC/3.8A. Cap/choke/cap/choke/cap. Caps are non-electrolytic oil types, chokes and transformer are all potted/shielded and suitable for placement next to preamps in a rack. The front panel is off in this pic, blank other than a small Collins logo.
