Hi guys,
I was given a Stanton RM-100 mixer without a psu in unknown condition  that I would like to test /repair.
The unit uses a multi tapped transformer with  2X15 VAC  and 1x12VAC( for powering the BNC lamp and driving the leds)  secondaries with common ground on all power lines
Unfortunately i dont have the original psu and i would like to power it on in order to check its condition.
I have a center tap transformer 2x15 VAC  and also another one that outputs 1x12VAC.
Can i combine these 2 for powering the unit on?
What I mean is , is it safe to connect the center tap of the 2x15 to one output of the 1x12 ?

Are you sure that is what you want to do? You probably need to commec the dc grounds rather than the transformers themselves. Can you post a schematic?

Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian and thank you for your reply.
I thought i would ask here first before setting my house on fire :)
Unfortunately  there are no schematics available for this mixer.
I have updated the first post with a picture of what i am thinking of doing.
the original psu is this

Yes, you can safely parallel the two transformer primaries.

Don't overthink connecting the secondaries together. Presumably the 12V supply ground will be bonded to the +/- 15V ground, this will effectively connect the the two secondaries together.

From the pic of the original power supply it looks like they bring out the 0V for the 12V winding separately from the 15 - 0 - 15 winding. I suggest you wire the connector exactly the same and just parallel the primaries. Looks like all the dc creation and connection together is done in the mixer.

Cheers

Ian

I connected the secondaries as  shown in the pinout of original psu picture and the mixer  works!
There are a few worn faders but thats not a problem.

many thanks for all the help!
