I like it!

I've told this story to Gus before, but it might be fun to share again. I still remember seeing a Trainwreck amp for sale at a local music store for a few hundred dollars when I was a teenager. I was thinking about buying it until someone at the store told me that it was built by some dude who works out of his basement in my home town (Colonia, NJ). I guess I figured there wouldn't be any resale value on the amp. Stupid, stupid, stupid (hitting my head like Chris Farley).

Regards,
Chris

Would this dude in the basement in Colonia have been Bob Young? He was the guy who got me started with enough confidence to modify and build my own tube stuff back in the early 80s. He was a professional photographer by trade and built tube amps as a serious hobby. His circuits were innovative and he was a stimulating guy to hang around with. He was in his late 50s then; I lost touch and haven't heard from him since about 1989.

Hey Kevin,

Like Bear said, the guy was Ken Fischer. So you lived Colonia? Small world! I haven't heard of Bob Young though. I was only a teenager in the early 80's though, still playing solid state practice amps.

Regards,
Chris

Kevin,

The sixth message from top is by someone named Bob Young. Look at his profile--there is a link to his homepage and some of his photos. Is it the same person?
