Hello

I'm repairing an old set of ADR F760X-N compex limiters.

I have to change some of the BC184L transistors, but my problem is that none of my suppliers have the L-version. They only have the ordinary BC184.
I cant figure out why they used the BC184L instead of BC184. According to the datasheets, the only difference is Ic (Collector Current) which is 500mA for the BC184L, and 100mA for the BC184.
Maybe i've missed something but, according to the schematic, it doesn't look like 500mA collector current is necessary..?

Just a quick answer, I don't know about the 100mA vs 500mA - I had always read and noted that the  all BC184 types were the same, in terms of electrical specs. The difference between the BC184 and 184L is the basing or lead pin out. You can see it in your datasheets. The lead change is the only difference, and you usually can use one for the other, but swapping of the lead orientations can be difficult on certain board layouts.
