Country Boy Tube Dumb Question

I recently built the Royer Country Boy circuit (my 2nd), and I’m getting no output. I’m getting continuity between the tube (5840) grid and pin 1 one the tube socket. Is the tube bad?

Sorry, tube pin 1 and xlr pin 1 show 0 ohms resistance.

i get this with no capsule connected. Pin 1 of the tube isn’t touching anything else.

Best would be to confirm with another tube, i think.

Interelectrode short within the tube or maybe the socket is damaged ?
