Hello All,

Except Chrion (Who stop his business for the moment, I think), anothers member made custom inductors?
Or have contact for it?

thank's,
Jr

Sowter makes inductors for a variety of vintage products,

and he will do custom stuff, once you get a good catalog of products it is not too hard to modify an existing product into something else,

most of the hassle is in the fab items, core brackets, transformer cans, color wire for the breakouts, maybe some EI lams in different flavors, once you have that in stock all you have to do is use a different ga wire for more or less turns,

I would STRONGLY recommend that you go the DIY route - winding inductors should not be something to be afraid of.

- Decide on mechanical size and core family
- Decide on core material type
- Calculate needed turns
- Wind by hand - anything up to ca. 1000 windings is manageable without too much trouble
- Verify inductance - either with a inductance meter, or with a known series capacitor sweeping for resonance

Is that a fact for a substitute for a Lundahl 1538 for Bo's DI-box ?

I think you (and I !) can make a transformer.
But not a good transformer...  :(
If you want a good transformer, we have to rely on the specialists with experience!

Well, the thread _is_ about inductors.

I totally agree - inductors are pretty simple to DIY, and it is a good learning experience.

Yes the thread is about inductors, like said zebra.

Thank's for your help.
Jakob, do you have link for learn about inductors DIY? or Zebra?
Zebra I'll send you information about inductors, if you can help me, or if you can advise me :)

Thank's,
Jr

well you can use transformers as inductors,

attach no wires to the secondary,

if you live in tin pan ally you use what you gots,

what?

Someone have a explication for DIY inductors?
For multitap inductance.
After do the first inductance, what we do after for make the next?

Thank's,
Jr

You have to remember that the inductance is proportional to the square of the number of turns, so if you have N1 turns for L1 inductance and you need L2, you write:
N2= N1.sqroot(L2/L1) then you wind (N2-N1) turns after the 1st tap, and you're done.

Here's a pretty good calculator for determining core Al-value as well as needed number of turns for a desired inductance:
