Nope, they're very, very expensive.

If you're doing less that 100 or so, it may be better economy to drill your way through the connectors the old-fashioned way..

Dave,

Yes, I wanted one of these myself. Have you looked at evilbay yet?

You might try LondonTools.com where I got the Qmax 24mm punches and see if they've got anything cheep. If they do you might try a group order to get the shipping price per piece down. I might be interested depending on the price... I'm watching my DIY money cause were having an "Ultimate DIY". :thumb:

HTH!
There's no website at the URL londontools.com.
Sorry Dave, my brain doesn't work well before lunch. Try londontools.co.uk. i looked but could find no luv on the D-sub punch. Rectangular and Square but no D-Sub.

Ouch! Is that right? I saw $450 for one at Mouser! L-com.com has it for $417...ooo! Ouch, Oww, Ooo! Sorry, I guess this is no help...

Back to lurking on evilbay...

Peace!

I just did a little more web-searching. Apparently, you can do a decent job of it using a Whitney handheld punch as long as the holes are not too far from the edge of the panel (due to the limited throat depth of the punch). Roper-Whitney sells square bits in addition to the usual round ones. You could make your DB25 hole by punching a series of square holes of the appropriate size.
You could make your DB25 hole by punching a series of square holes of the appropriate size.
that and a little filing, perhaps. A DB 25 Punch would be REALLY cool though!

I have a hand nibbler that I bought at RatShack years ago that works pretty well on front panel stuff. i recently used it to punch a hole for an IEC and it works okay and is pretty fast and neat if you have a steady hand.

Peace!

After hand puching/filing about a dozen DB-25 mounting holes, this one looks attractive to me...

I've not purchased one or used one, but I probably will.

Ooo! Nice find, Fred. Still maybe a little pricey for DIY but a LOT more reasonable. I just can't see USD$450, even if I was buying for work...For that kind of money, I would think I could have it custom made...

I think I'll make DB9 and Dsub a part of my "favorite searches" on Evilbay and see what turns up!

Peace!
