Hi,
I'm repairing and Altec 1592B mixer.

I need to replace 2 transistors in the main Board, they are D43C7 transistors.

I can't find them anywhere.

Does anyone know if there's any substitutes for this transistors?
Or if I can buy them somewhere?

thanks

look at the Altec history site, and find the Altec transistor cross reference document.  They had their own part #s for standard transistors requiring critical selection.  It could be on those lists.

Have you tried to use it in place of an D43C7?

Hi,
www.mouser.com in USA and www.farnell.com in EU have MJE172 in stock.

Nope, that's info from the SGS THOMSON transistors cross reference.

Cool, I already ordered them from Farnell.
Although the specs are a litle bit different from the D43C7 so I don't know if they are a straight substitute or not. Maybe I have to change some stuff in the circuit so that it works properly.

I know this was a long time ago, but I'm curious if the MJE-172 worked out as a direct substitute for the D43C7?

it was a long time ago, I don't remember what i used neither do I even remember that I had to replace the transistors in the unit.
I just remember it was a custom job for a client. I made the first 3 channels independent of the mixer, so I installed balanced direct outs for those and I had to modify the Bootle preamp modules for higher gain. Had also to add a negative rail to the PSU to power the balancing IC's.

I dont remember anything else sorry
