I recently bought a DBX900 rack that has a pair of noisegates (904 I Think)in it, since I probably won´t be using these I wonder if anyone knows what model those VCA:s sitting in there could be used in? They have no marking at all and the cans are silverpainted. are those 202:s, if so, can I use them in the Buscomp? :?:

Yes those are 202. If you pull them you should be able to tell which 202 (C, what's the other one... XT sumthing like that) Because its printed on the pcb and yeah you can use them in the buscomp.
Be careful IIRC there are a few minor changes to the buscomp depending on which VCA you use. Make sure the VCA's are working in the 904's first.

later, If you decide you want to use the 904's I suppose you could get them working by copying Gyrafs 202 emulation circuit off the ssl board.
Good luck

OK, I´ll just pull them out and find out what version it is. i´ve built the SSLcomp in the past 8using THAT2180:s) and really liked it, a freind of mine rufuses to give it back to me after trying it out so I guess I have to build another one(or maybe three actually, since I bought five more of these units for no money at all). Jakob says that the sound isn´t that much different ehaterver VCA:s You´re using, but I got these for almost nothing so I might as well use them. Thanks
