Hi,
it seems the distressor schematic is not public shared but if someone got it (apparenty at a time it was out) thanks to pm me!
struggeling hard to repair it...
all the ic got names erased so...

I never seen the schematic anywhere.
But I had a problem one time with my unit and Empirical Labs fixed it for free.

Did you contact them? them might be able to fix it, even if not for free for a lower fee.

Regards

I remember that one of our members here figured it out and said that while most of it was straight forward, the control part of it was not trivial. He also said that even though he reversed it he would not share the schematic. If you look in the archives you will most likely find that thread.

Thanks guys, yes I'm in contact with them
Quite a pity there's no service center in europe!
Must send to usa!
So yes, I would prefer to have them repaired here

The german distributor Sound Service should also be able to help. Have you tried to contact them first ?
I also do repair and maintenance for Empirical Labs products, but sometimes there are problems that can only be fixed in their factory.

yup, it's still in production, and well supported..
/Jakob E.

As far as I know, and please Jakob correct me if I'm wrong, reverse engineering a circuit you own and publish your drawn schematic for free is not ilegal.

DIYing it and selling it would be ilegal, making profit of the schematic would be probably ilegal, credit the design to you would be illegal, but not sharing it.

I will always share the schematics of circuits I reverse engineer because that info can help someone else repair their unit, in this case for someone in Europe can be really expensive to ship the unit 2 ways to States plus in some cases paying Duty fees on top of that.

Exactly, even empirical labs seems very cool people and trying to be helpful,
round trip shipping + eventual damages + eventual custom fees makes it quite uncomfortable!

Hopefully, someone could help!

Customs fees and related hazzle can be avoided by filling out the required paperwork for "temporary export for repair". Not all that complicated in most countries.

It compress way more in ratio 1 - 2- 3- 4 than the rest and don't store settings (storing seems easy i.e replacing one cap)

Yes, the settings memory is supplied voltage during power down by a "supercapacitor".  Empirical Labs will send you one for free with instructions on how to replace it.  As for the ratio problem, I do not know.

Storing is just replacing one Cap.
And I know that because I've installed it before. Empirical Labs sent me that cap for free, it's a memory cap.
