Looking at the pictures of this ebay-auction -

http://cgi.ebay.de/DBX-202C-Tin-Can-VCAs-For-Automation-SSL-Compressor_W0QQitemZ190087629376QQihZ009QQcategoryZ23793QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem

- I wonder if there's a schematic to build them yourself? It doesn't look very complicated and everyone seems to prefer them to THAT VCAs...

Yes, of course - and I didn't expect to be the first to bring this up. But there was nothing (checked the Meta, too). I've found that the search doesn't find everything though (I even get results for this forum in google sometimes that won't appear in the search here).

So, if this has been covered already, could someone kindly point me to the thread?

That guy was running that auction last month too. If you really want some 202 modules and don't want to pay $50.00 a whack, just get an old dbx 154 noise reduction unit for 20 bucks and take the 202s out of it. I've got a Harrison 4032 in my main room, and when I put in the Uptown automation, I got rid of most of my 202s.
