I have a couple of 1960's GenRad measurement 1560-p42 mics on the bench, which are beautifully engineered, but seem to be pretty noisy. The noise is wind/woosh/hiss, like a dirty capsule.
I don't have a lot of experience with old electrets. Does anyone know what happens as they age? I seem to recall reading that the polarisation fades with time.
I'll post up some photos later as they are really quite wonderful to look at.
Anyway, thanks for any thoughts or comments.
