Since CJ has been on an amp kick lately. I figured I would post this link. Dumble amps command high dollar when available we are talking as high as 5  low mid 5 figures at times. I have yet to hear one in person so I don't know what all the mojo is about but I found this website  which has some info.

Interesting link. I had been looking for the rock/jazz and boost switch mods for some time.

I have a friend that had a Dumble made for him. He said that he had to fly out there to to be there while the amp was being finished. I guess every amp was made this way? He sat there for around 5 hours playing the same progression over and over while Howard Dumble swapped around components until it sounded like he wanted it. It seems like this is what makes a Dumble really special as the component values always varied depending on the amp and playing style.

there was a Dumble in a jam room that i got to play, over in Aptos or Santa  Cruz, can't remember,

real heavy, lots of bass, couldn't get it to distort, don't know which model, huge pwr and output transformers, maybe a bass amp or country amp, did not work for big hair 80's metal, but always fun to try new amps, especially a Dumble,

Why are power tubes drawn so much bigger? I kinda like them... I never have the luck to came across one of them, I wish I do.

Hi,

was "gooping" a common practice before Mr. Dumble did it?

A practice so ugly it killed any interest I might have had in his work.

The "Amp Garage" forum has a big Dumble clone section for anyone who is interested. Seems the "goop" didn't work out that well.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was a fan of and used Dumble amps.

Apparently, the story went that you gave Howard Dumble some stupid amount of money -- five figures -- and at some point of his choosing, he'd start building your amp. It could be years between order and delivery.
