Echo Dot 4th Gen Line Out

I just got an echo dot for the workshop. Speaker sound is average so I thought I would run the line out into a pair of powered studio monitors. Anyone know if the 3.5mm line out is actually stereo and at what sort of level? I know I could just try it but I thought I would ask in case someone has already done it.
