Bought this off of craigslist thinking I'd upgrade a few components and use it as a quick and dirty keyboard mixer for my smaller synths and noisemakers.
So I crack it open and... I'm afraid to touch anything! It works now but I have no idea how it's not making magic smoke.

Love how the grounds are all tied together in addition to the chassis, and then taken back per jack to the PCB?
Also love the vintage rosin residue. Nostalgia.

This was a commercial product.
I haven't seen a fix this bad since 8th grade at least.
Not sure if it was UL listed?

Well that resistor is burnt.
Gonna have to replace that. It's working right now,
but it does run off AC mains, not an external AC adapter.
So not sure I'm comfortable with that hanging out.
The IC next to that fried resistor is the voltage reg apparently. So yeah.

This must be your first vintage EH pedal 😁 They were (in)famous for poor quality control back in the day. Pedals would come missing parts, wires not soldered, etc. And kids back then repairing their own pedals did not have GDIY to help them.

Haha, actually not my first early EHX pedal. I got a couple others I bought new in the early 80's. Those both required some work. But neither were such a mess under the hood. Just cheap parts and structurally unsound.
