grab 'em before they're gone, folks.

Sadly no update here... Discussion shifted from trying to play with eucon and all that could potentially happen with lawyers from avid to a more streamlined idea of a plugin controlling hardware.  It would be much easier to update a plugin then to have to reinvent the wheel when avid switches gears.

......the raven by slate design have "bypassed" avid  remote controllers ?
(send them all retire?...)

but a "liquid" (lcd touchscreen) rotary encoder seem not to be much "friendly" to "manage"
better if it appear as a small linear fader when finger touch the pot

Got em, although a couple of crucial things are missing.

Two included files.

#include "EuDefinitions.h"
#include "EuWrapperFactory.h"

I suspect those two files hold a lot of the clues.

the slate raven  is a touch screen that does  not even use capacitive touch.  It is nothing more the a large touch screen running a gui inside of the pro tools gui inside the os. So a program that runs/controls another program that is running on the os.  When mac os implements multi-touch like they have done for the iphone, Then the raven will be rendered obsolete as once it is in the os the third party developers like avid will soon follow.  it's only a matter of when not if especially since windows already offers multi-touch capabilities.

Hi,
Anyone got access to those two header files?
I'd like to make a plugin for cross adaptive modulation of any automatable DAW parameter

Only google references are:

..that's not much, I would have thought you'd find much more pieces of ancient software out there after 12 years..

Yes, I found those two pastebin files, super, but they reference the header files

#include "EuDefinitions.h"
#include "EuCommon.h"

... and I was curious if anyone had access to those?

Eucon is a proprietary system owned by Euphonix, and now owned by Avid. I seem to recall a forum working towards implementing Avid controllers with Reaper. Perhaps it was the older ProControl & Control 24, but after years of work and the creation of a functional software replica of the control surfaces the pin was pulled on the entire project after Avid intervened.

I would expect any Eucon documentation to be thin on the ground. It is still actively being developed... and Avid would much rather sell you a license to use it than share it for free.

Thanks. After you mentioned it, I found this
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=122509
Has it been stopped by Avid? I actually found the reaper modules too. Haven't looked at them yet, but will do.
With this *I might be able to figure out how to control Protools too. I myself will rather use Reaper actually, but I'm building an automation tool that might be useful for PT users and I'd like to keep that option open if possible.
Anyone know if the legal/patent issues might suggest that it is illegal to implement a software control module that can control PT via Eucon, so Avid might come in and have a say in this at a later stage?

The thread I was referring to wasn't about Eucon. If my memory serves me right, it was about creating a digidesign ethernet controller to HUI adaptor of some kind.

I will preface this by saying that I am no lawyer, nor do I have anything to do with Avid... but Avid definitely own Eucon. They have licensed it to a bunch of DAWs - Logic, Nuendo, Cubase, Pyramix for example, but they haven't at this point licensed it for use in any DAW controllers (either hardware or software). People have tried. But from face value it appears Avid doesn't want anyone else creating eucon based controllers.

Smart AV is the immediate example that jumps out. They announced that they were ceasing operations about 12 months ago, and basically blamed it on Avid's refusal to license the Eucon protocol for use in third party controllers. If you do some digging on the DUC you can also find a lot of chatter with various references to companies like SSL trying to license Eucon to drive console automation systems from Protools - even with users offering their willingness to pay for a $2500+ individual license to do so.

Avid refused... Smart AV has closed, and SSL automation still relies on HUI control within Protools. While I have no idea what can or will happen, the outcome of reverse engineering eucon and implementing it in your own product pretty much lay in Avid's hands.

I'd say forget about it. Eucon is an ever-moving target. Even for companies like Steinberg who are probably paying for a software compatibility.

Avid likes to introduce changes that makes eucon useless for their concurents and notify them a bit too late...

We should all just stop playing the avid game...

Did this project ever go any further? Interested to hear what occurred or whether it got relegated to the too hard basket?
this project went right into the following: Eucon hardware cannot be made by anyone other then avid who owns euphonix. When you get a development kit from avid, you sign paperwork to that. so they allow you to put eucon in your software but you cannot make eucon hardware. To fight avid so was deemed to expensive by the bean counters I was reporting to at the time when I made the original OP. So, the project was abandoned. Instead they opted for a plugin controlling hardware which was more feasible but was also abandon as things quickly changed. who needs console automation on a desk when you can mix in the box and have results that the industry is happy with especially now with atmos. It's only a matter of time when consoles are a thing of the past.

Also, MIDI and OSC are already very capable and well implemented on most DAWs (except PT of course).

With a tremendous amount of of the shelf devices, tablets apps and DIY projects as well...

So i don't see the point of yet another protocol?
