I'm using a ssm2142 (had it in stock) unbal > bal converter in my workshop to test things out after a usb terratec unbalanced (line out with cinch) soundcard.
This works fine but sometimes i need just a bit more (maybe 3db) gain on the output to drive things just a bit louder for testing. It's always at unity gain now with the output of the soundcard set to max.
Is there a way to simpy mod the standard circuit (just 51r and elco on out) to have more gain or do i really have to add a buffer/gainstage before (or after) the ssm2142? If so, anyone have a really simple, proven opamp stage that can have a switch with 0/3/6db gain? that would be perfect for me.  ;D
I know it's just a matter of having different value feedback resistors to have it work at 0/3/6 db gain but i'm really bad with figures, i'm more like the practical type of guy.  ::)

If you want to keep things simple, if I recall it right, the TI chip DRV 134 does +6dB. If I remember it correctly the TI chips (INA line receiver/driver) could be used as drop in replacements for the SSM chips....

Best regards,
Martin

PS: Oops, sorry, please ignore, that was just the Line Receiver, not the Driver. The opamp is the viable solution....
