Hi folks,

I'm almost through my recap orgy of my broadcast modules. The last two modules were my Filtek Mk3a. While recapping the second module I noticed that a few polarized tantal capacitors in the filter section were oriented differently from one another. So I checked the schematic and they were also different from the schematic...
The caps I'm talking about are C207, C209, C215, C217, C221 and C223. All were 10uF tantal. I recaped with low esr panasonic elcos.
Even though the modules worked before recap I thought maybe it's better to do it "right" according to the schematic.
Low and behold I got weird loud motorboating noise when I powered it up. Changed C209, C217 and C223 as they were before so "positive" anode towards Pin 3 of the IC's and the noise was gone.
In the other module only C223 was according to the schematic. The other ones were reversed and the module worked.
Can somebody maybe explain this?
