Yes, His first studio was in Cucamonga, on Archabald just north of Foothill Blvd.
Frank went to Chaffey High School  in Ontario. He started working and learning engineering
at PAL Recording (same studio) with owner Paul Buff. "Wipeout" and "Surfer Joe" and "Pipeline"
were recorded there, and later Frank bought the studio and named it Studio Z.
Paul Buff went on to start Allison Research.
Story is the feds set Frank up, called and asked him if he could record some porn, at that time it was just some moaning and sqeeky springs, and busted him for making the porn recordings. He went to jail, but still made the rent payments on the studio. He later moved to his home studio.

Frank Zappa was a rare talent... I recall seeing him testify before congress back when Tipper Gore was trying to censor music in the '80s. Not a fair fight, Frank was smarter then the average congressman.  8)

I didn't know Frank personally but knew Paul Buff and he is another very smart guy.

The official charge was conspiracy to commit pornography.  So, how does one engage in "conspiracy to commit pornography?"
