Hi everyone,

I?m on recaping my Telefunken V376 right now. In the earlier post about Telefunken V274 (http://www.groupdiy.com/index.php?topic=10453), CJ mentioned something about removing & adjusting the broadcast filter ?..hmmmm ? I?ve heard that the frequency response of all german broadcast modules had to be limited to around 15 khz, for whatever reason. Since my knowledge about electronic components & their task is very very basic, & I have absolutely no clue about circuit design (but I?m learning & learning.. that?s why I love being in this forum.. ) I would be therefore very grateful if anyone here can help me finding those frequency caps/filters in my V376 & suggest me some parts for substitution ?

And one more (basic) question on recaping/finding substitution for a cap, I know that basically we should always get a cap with the same form factor & capacitance. The voltage value in a cap indicates only the maximum voltage that the cap can handle (please correct me if I?m wrong). So if can?t find an e.g axial 470uf/6v cap, I should just go with the NEXT HIGHER V, like axial 470uf/16v. But if the space on the PCB is available , can I replace an electrolytic with ..let?s say .. a ceramic or a poly with the same capacitance but probably way higher voltage, like axial 470uf/6v -> ceramic 470uf/100v ?

CJ ? Anyone ? thanks ?

470u/6V electro is the size of your fingertip. 470u ceramic does not exist but could be the size of a coffee pot. They are making small low-volt ceramics, so maybe only a coffee cup. But 470u film will be at least as big as a coffee cup.

Many places you find electros, especially 470uFd value, there is no practical alternative.

hi PRR,

first thanks a lot, I've read lots of your posts/replies, you seem to have a lot of patience teaching basics to forum members with limited knowledge of electronics :thumb: respect ..

.... and yes, I didn't read my catalogue carefully, I thought I might have seen a 470uf/100v ceramic cap, it's 470pf...

thanks again
