Can anyone point me in the right direction, Ive searched the forum, but I dont think Ive found the right terms to get to what im lookin for. Im looking for a how to, or some info, on how to accurately design the spacing for volume and tone knobs for front panels.

Im using elma 24p switches and I want to design to design the volume knobs for silk screening.

who is doing the silk screen; they should know how to generate graphics with software

front panel express has a software for their engraving

I use adobe illustrator, cut stencils by hand or use dymo labels...

Hey thanks alot! this is exactly what I needed. Im doing the screning, but since ive got this tool, might just have the scales engraved. My friend has a CNC shop, they cut panels, so hes helping me out w my projects, just gotta give him a dxf and a panel and he does the rest.

Just having a little difficulty getting the thing going.. Im doing a 23 step scale for this rotary

I was wrong when I described it earlier as a elma, its those chinese rotary switches... The Scale site talks about points, but Im unsure on how to get the image generated correctly

Hi the linked scale generator doesn't go further than a 300 degrees. those uraltone switches go around 360 degrees in 15 degree steps. The hpgl generator linked on the frontpanelexpress site(or scheaffer in europe)  (jskala)  can do any degree you want. http://www.frontpanelexpress.com/support/tips-tricks/index.html little bit akward to use but once you get the way it works you'll have great scales in no time. You might wanna download inkscape to edit and or to combine hpgl's to get the result your after.

greetings,

Thomas

Ive been playing around w this java tool and it doesnt get me the results, its got a max of 20 main sections... Ive tried every combination. this part of the build is  even harder than the build itself... may be way over my head here! I used the other tool previously posted, and I think i might have it right, gave me 23 positions just a little concerned w their spacing..

Ive got a good scale that works to best of my knowledge for these type of switches, if anyone needs the hpgl feel free to dm me.
