For sale is a mint condition Serpent Audio SB4000 SSL bus compressor that sounds ultra clean.
The SB4000 is a stereo buss compressor based on Gyraf’s GSSL. The SB4000 incorporates many of the mods that have been developed for the Gyraf’s clone, making it a “next generation” GSSL.
Incorporated mods:
1. Turbo: provides the option for mono (summed) or stereo sidechain
2. Super sidechain x2: adds sidechain high-pass filters and “tilt” eq curves
3. VU bar graph
4. Relay bypass
5. Power supply redesigned from the (sometimes) problematic GSSL
6. Quad THAT218x VCAs per channel for ultra low noise
