It might reduce ringing, it might reduce already flat treble. The EQ prob needs a load to respond correctly, a preamp, maybe not. MAKE NO ASSUMPTIONS.

Why can't I wire a 600 ohm resistor all the time ? I understand it helps reducing ringing. Something I have noticed with my Siemens W295 EQs, depending on what they drive they can sound a bit harsh... But when correctly hooked up... just butter !
Because if you have it in place all the time and then run the output to another piece of gear that is 600 ohms input (Pultec, 1176, etc.) then you are loading it with 300 ohms which may or may not sound good!
