Just basically stopped working. The odd time it might get sound for a few mins but goes quickly
Sounds like a contaminated capsule, but could be a bad contact too. To dig deeper we need to know what model of M71 you have. The mic M71 as I understand is a later MG version, where you are not able to swap the capsules(I could be wrong?), but is in essence MV692(preamp) and the (capsule) M71 combined. Yes, the capsule was named M71 in the DDR-days. Depending on what you have, you may be able to swap the capsules to find out, if the problem follows. In case yours is an older one, it used to have a separate PSU and a 7-pin connector. Could be the mic was converted to accept P-48 and a 3-pin XLR connector. Depending on who did the converting, not always quality XLRs were used(too loose) resulting symptons you described. Also the grounding connection between the preamp and capsule tends to loose tension and nonfunctionality follows.
