Hoping someone can lead me in the right direction.

One of my Gennies is giving me grief. Every now and again it cuts out to about 1/2 or 1/3rd volume and I need to turn it off the on again to get it working properly again.
On only one occasion it cut out for a few seconds then came back but every other time I had to turn it off/on.

Does this fault description give ant hints?

Good luck finding scematics....Genelec is not very eager to give them out I heard.
You might want to check the easy parts...PSU, cap's, connectors, cold solder joints or any visible damage..

I had the same problem a few years ago, and then suddenly stopped, and then operates normally. I know that I'm not much help.

Stopped as in working no more or the fault stopped.
I tend to put off lots of things like going to the dentist, getting my car serviced but were talking studio gear here and i'd like to nip it in the bud early.

We have several 1031's that have exhibited similar problems.  In every case, the problem was that the Molex pin connectors on the amp board had cracked solder joints.  Not enough metal.  Pull the amp boards and re-solder ALL of the Molex pins.  Maybe this will solve.........

I have early 1031's.

There is a short ribbon cable that fits into a pressure fit connector from the XLR into the PCB.  That connector on the PCB gets old and loses contact on a pin that makes the unit drop 3 to 6 db.  I have taken it apart and found the plastic and metal loose tension.  I finally got tired of pushing the pressure pins back in and lightly soldered the connectors and ribbon wire.  It works great now.

I have not had a 1030 apart to know if this could be the problem in that model.

Thanks bruno2000!!

I had an issue with a 1031A, only the tweeter was working.  I re-soldered the rear of the Molex pins which were quite obviously dry and now it works like new!

Thanks a lot.  ;D
