Hi everybody, just made a GSSL i had an old PCB rev7 so i decided to make it finally

I mounted i guess properlychecking all the values the polarities of the components and mounted that 2080 LB on it

I hope i changed all the values accoring to those chips as found on some help threads

BUT :

Wehn i power up the unit, i get no sound for some seconds ( 20-30 ) it raises slowly then the sounds is cristal clear and the make up works properly but the compression doesnt work at all

Threshold doesnt do anything, ration either, attack either and release makes the sounds go louder or lower make huge fade in like 3 to 10 seconds

The power supply also runs extremely hot

The transformer is a 2x15v  5VA and mounted on the PCB run also extremely hot

At first the resistor 10r at the power suypply section burned, it was a 1/4W, i changed it by a 1W and didnt burn again

Also on bypass mode, when i tun the make up full the light on the vu metter closes .... pretty weird

Any idea suggestion, troubleshooting?

I double tripple checked every values, polarities, replaces every componenet of the power suply ( in case ) but nothing changed

hi sounds like there is definitely some problems in the power supply. try to isolate the +/- 12V and 15V DC rails and see if you get the correct readings. Also, 5Va power transformer might be a little on the low side could be more appropriate to use 25VA at least

Hi, thanks for your reply ( just saw it now, didnt get any notification ) yeah i should take a look over there

i put a 5vs trasnformer cause i had one fiting exactly the PCB and it was requiered minimum 4.5VA so i tried :)

But still it must have another real issue

i will try to remove all the op amps and the that 2080 to see if maybe one of them has an issue ( didnt notice any problem before mounting them but i didnt run it a long time either )

thanks for the reply
