See attached schematic for what ended up working...

Here is how I tested it.

Settings:
Compressor set to Fast attack, slow release.
Protools signal generator set to -20db - 1khz sinewave
Makeup gain off
Threshold off

Procedure:

Set compressor to 1.5:1
Adjust channel output into Compressor and meter sensitivity to read 0db (just a place to start)
Adjust threshold for 8db of compression.
Adjust makeup gain and bring signal back to -5db on meter (increasing signal strength by 3db) I do this just for easy math...
Increase signal generator to -10db (bring level up 10db)

Meter now reads 1.5db (from -5db to 1.5 db is 6.5db of gain for 10db of input gain giving the ratio of 1.5:1)

Interaction measurements. (How well did the rest of the ratios stay intact?)

Same setup procedure, and resetting threshold and makeup each time.

2:1 = 4.5db of gain (should be 5db)
4:1 = 2.4db of gain (should be 2.5db)
10:1 = 1db of gain (should be 1db)

So there you have it...

A huge thank you to Thomas Kristiansson and Igor for this solution.
