gssl ssl mA meter question

Is it possible to use a 300 mA meter instead of the 1mA meter by changing the 1K/2K resister before the meter for something way smaller?,,, I have an old 300mA meter that looks great and I would really like to use it.

You didn't post a link to the schematic, so I don't know for sure, but I'm going to venture a guess that 300mA will severely - severely - tax the meter driver amp...

The scale says 300 ma or the movement takes 300 ua?
