GSSL vu METER

Hi guys
Just wanted to add a very good looking vu meter to my gssl project
I've found one at my local store but unforunately is 500uA (but very very cool, perfect for my white front panel)
On the gyraf BOM is 1mA.....
have you got a sugget to adapt mine on the circuit? ???
I thought about some resistors....

Simply put a resistor with the same value as the meter in parallel? (0,5 mA + 0,5 mA = 1 mA!)

I think a VU meter won't work. You need a PPM for the gssl...
