Hairball 1176 A mod A-20 as input transformer?

Hey there. Got a Hairball 1176 A, got an UTC A-20.

Is it worth to desolder the original transformer and connect the
A-20 to the pcb, or am I better just building a transformer box
( I have two A-20s ) and plugging the 1176 input to it?
