Hi Group,

Pondering a question, winding low (low) impedance transformers. Think ribbon and such, possibly lower.

Question: Can I do a half turn on a transformer winding? Why/why not?

It puzzles me if this is a place where you suddenly get nature insisting on whole numbers - or have I missed something basic?

A half turn does not exist. The galvanic connection goes from one point to the same point, thus doing a whole turn at least.
A half-turn is like a rope with only one end.
Now this whole turn may have part of it less coupled than the rest. The subject has been brought in the LTspice group. When simulating a half turn, it is done with two inductors with different coupling coefficients.
In the particular case of a ribbon mic transformer, the wires and the ribbon complete the turn.
